IT MANAGERS STILL NOT GETTING INTERNET RISKSSource: Security Wire DigestPosted on June 20, 2002 A new survey suggests U.S. companies continue to invest in information security, but managers still underestimate risks associated with doing business via the Internet. These are among the findings in a survey of 501 managers at 460 mid- and large-sized companies done by the St. Paul Companies, a Minnesota property-based insurer. "Only one-third of those surveyed indicated their companies are more likely to identify and manage e-risks than they were a year ago," says Bill Rohde, president for global technology for the St. Paul Companies, in a published report. " While our research indicates that firms believe the risks of e-commerce will increase in the future, we continue to see alarming gaps in the preparedness of U.S. companies today. Clearly, U.S. companies continue to underestimate these risks." The survey included 251 risk managers and 250 IT managers.
