PEOPLEFIRST.COM PROMOTES PRIVACY WITH FIRST ANNUAL PRIVACY WEEKSource: Privacy ExchangePosted on April 11, 2001 PeopleFirst.com, the largest online automotive lender in the U.S., will be conducting is first annual Privacy Week to demonstrate that privacy is a priority for all company employees. The goals for Privacy Week -- which will be held from April 16-20, 2001 -- are to raise employee awareness of the importance of customer privacy, introduce the company's new privacy policy, and train all employees on what they must do to ensure that PeopleFirst is following its privacy policy. "As more and more consumers do business online, consumers are concerned, asking questions and doing research about privacy. They want to be assured their personal information is handled appropriately," said Alan Amico, chief privacy officer for PeopleFirst. "We are making sure that every employee honors each customer's individual privacy rights." As part of PeopleFirst's compliance with privacy legislation -- including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley financial privacy law -- the company has reworked its privacy policy. According to Amico, PeopleFirst did not merely want to post the new policy on its Web site. "We wanted to do more and stress the overall importance of consumer's privacy, so we created Privacy Week."
