CONSUMER REPORTS CALLS FOR PRIVACY AUDITS

      In the November issue, Consumer Reports calls for privacy audits to protect citizens' personally identifiable information. In the article, CR states:

      Independent, periodic audits by third-party experts are needed to:

• verify that data is securely stored and used only for the purposes disclosed;

• that access is restricted to authorized employees; and

• that training programs are in place to guard against leakage or corruption."
