CRIMEWARE, BIGGEST THREAT TO COMPUTERSSource: Tanzania Daily NewsPosted on April 30, 2012 Threat is a possible danger that might exploit a vulnerability to breach security and thus cause possible harm. A threat can be either intentionally planted by an individual cracker or a criminal organization or accidentally by possibility of a computer malfunctioning, or the possibility or otherwise a circumstance, capability, action, or event. Today, the biggest threat facing computers is crimeware. This malicious software is written by cybercriminals with the purpose of making money illegally. Crimeware may take the form of viruses, worms, Trojans or other malicious programmes. Also e-mail hacking has become a serious problem and a threat to many people which causes them to be coned through internet, or by breaking down computers programmes through a virus. Hackers regularly break into both individual computers and large networks. Once they have access, they may install malicious programmes, steal confidential data, or perhaps use compromised computers to distribute spam. It is electronic burglary. That is why Multinet Works recently launched cyberroaming network system which provides information technology (IT) solutions and helps protect computers from internet related attacks including virus. "Cyber-roam is a good system which protects the spread of spams, viruses as well as junk mails and can give a client clue if there is any threat against their computer, it has power on protecting any network or internet problem", said Maloo. According to him, the company has been awarded several awards for their good service of protecting IT networks, last year they won as Entrepreneurial Company of the year Unified Threat Management of the year in North America. Company's Manager Kalpesh Maheshwari, said Multinet Works which is based in India promotes information technology and has been in the country since 2008 but was officially launched recently. "The cyber-roam network we are launching today has been in use for a while in Tanzania with several clients including companies such as Vodacom, Zantel, Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) and government institutions such as Ministry of Home Affairs as big clients," said Maheshwari. He pointed out that cyberroam was voted the most valued security partner because of the management style, high brand recall services as well as strong management support to clients. Multinet Works has 5000 partners worldwide, 489 are in Africa, 1002 in America, 1103 in Europe, Latin America 330 and 440 in Middle East. He also noted that, there is a growth on country's revenue to 180 per cent by the end of last year to this year, whereby the company contributed to the growth. By his account, cyberoam has a clear edge on clearing and solving internet problems like eliminating viruses to the computers and many others to the companies as well as for home use, it will benefit all groups of people. Interviewing the people during the launch, many of them appreciated the new system saying that it came on the perfect time because there was spread of hackers and virus in internet. A person named Abdulhamid Seif said internet security has gone from an accessory to a necessity. What was once a way to protect files inside home computers has become a virtual private team of bodyguards, no longer is security protecting your files from getting out but people from getting in. "Several companies today provide a multitude of services ranging software for recovering lost information to software that allows individual to work even in the event of catastrophic damage to a computer. "Computer security has even enveloped the idea of information security which allows user store sensitive work or personal information on a server that can be accessed by many if not all computers connected to the global internet, but after using cyberoam I think it is the best computer protector, said Seif. The internet is indeed a worldwide web where almost anything we should need or want can be found but we need to be very careful by computer's threat, you may use a virus you think suits you so as to avoid internet problems. Using computer antivirus is good for home use or for office. As computers and the internet progress into a new age and information streams faster and more freely, being protected will be top priority to many people.
